Orthodox Parish of St.Thomas in Ireland
Our spiritual journey
Ireland is a small West European Island nation that borders
the United Kingdom to the North, Irish Sea to the east and the Atlantic Ocean on
the West.
A parish of the Malankara Orthodox Church was officially established in Dublin in
2006. The roots of our parish were planted in over seven years ago by a small Orthodox
community from the Southern part of India (Kerala). This parish had its humble beginnings
as a prayer group and later became a Congregation.
On 17th December 2006, it was offically declared as a parish by our diocesan metropolitan.
As more and more Indian Orthodox members started coming to Ireland, our parish started
growing and it continues to grow steadily…
The St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church is today a Parish of the Malankara Orthodox
Church. It is a fully registered charitable organization registered with the Company
Registrar and the Charity Commissioners.
We have regular weekly Qurobana on Sundays. Further all festival services and events
as per the Orthodox Calendar and followed without fail.
We are members of the Dublin Council of Churches and the Irish Council of Churches.
Our Mission
To respond, to the call of our Lord Jesus Christ, to minister
to those who are suffering and are in need throughout the Society, sharing with
them God's gift of food, shelter, economic self-sufficiency and hope. We have a
commitment to the development and growth in the spiritual, educational and ecumenical
fields of activities of the congregation, through proper planning, programming and
efficient utilization of available resources. This we do through a high level of
community interaction by organizing educational, cultural and sporting activities.
Our parish belongs to the diocese of Europe and Africa, which is headed by H.G.Dr.Mathews
Mar Thimothios Metropolitan. The blessed memmory His Grace Dr.Thomas Mar Makarios
Metropolitan appointed Rev.Fr.K.M.Koshy Vaidyan as the first Vicar and President
of our parish. As per the declaration from His Grace our general assembly formed
a parish council and elected a Parish trustee as well as secretary.
Our parish is registered as a charitable organisation under CRO in Republic of Ireland.
We are submitting all the required documents in time to the concerned authorities
as and when required.
Our parish celebrates Holy liturgy on Sundays and special Feast days. We have all
the spiritual organisations under the jurisdiction of the Malankara Orthodox church.
‘The Logos’, our monthly parish newsletter conveys news and events .
Our parish maintains a sound ecumenical relationship with her sister churches in
Ireland.
It is by His Grace that we are what we are and we believe that his bountiful blessings
will shower on. Our story continues......
